Two-Sided Celtic Knot and Maple Pendant

I have made several of these two sided pendants over the years. They are very elegant and dressy. I have made different patterns over time. This is my most recent one. It has a Celtic knot pattern on one side and a Maple leaf on a textured background on the other side. It has a thick rope like sterling silver neck wire which shows it off perfectly.

I made each side separately using a stamp onto silver clay. I dried each rectangular piece of clay on a curved form. After refining all four sides with a flexible sanding pad I connected the four corners with moist silver clay and waited till it was all perfectly dry.

The dried clay piece had to laid in a bed of vermiculite so that the sides would not collapse in the 1650 degree F kiln for 2 hours. After cooling, portions of the design were burnished with 24K Gold Foil using an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo. Patina was painted on for added color accent.
