Silver And Copper Wire Viking Knit Necklace

Making a Viking knit necklace is a labor of love. It is a slow process of weaving wire on a dowel until you have a suitable length. The length of knitted wire is then pulled  through a draw plate which elongates it and makes it more compact.

 In this case I wove sterling silver wire as well as copper wire and then joined a length of knitted copper wire at each end of knitted silver wire. Sterling silver beads joined the silver and copper, while sterling silver cone beads capped the copper wire. A sterling silver clasp completed the necklace.

It is an elegant accessory which makes any outfit special.
