Rama was prince of Ayodhya. He was the oldest son and destined to be king. His father had 3 wives. Rama was the oldest son born of Queen Kausalya. His stepmother Kaikeyi wished her son Bharat to become king. She tricked his father Dasharatha to grant her a boon leading to Rama being sent to the forest for 13 years of exile. Rama leaves Ayodhya with his wife Sita and younger brother Laxman.

Bharat is horrified by what his mother has caused and pleads with Rama to stay and become king when their father dies heart broken. Rama says he must keep his promise and leave. Bharat begs Rama to leave his sandals behind to sit on the throne while Bharat rules as Regent till Rama comes back to Ayodhya.

I made a mold of the tin replica I have. I created the pendant using silver clay pressed into the mold. After firing in the kiln for 2 hours at 1645 degrees F, I burnished parts of the 999 pure silver pendant with 24K Gold foil and painted parts with patina. I made the pendant for a Diwali show I was participating in since Diwali celebrates the return of Rama to the kingdom of Ayodhya. People light lamps in their homes and in public places to light his way back home.

The pendant has a lovely story to remind the wearer of devotion to a father, brotherly love, love between a husband and wife, the triumph of good over evil, the return of a king, lighting of lamps in celebration and so many other wondrous things in the major epic The Ramayana.

Dimensions : 1 and 1/2 inch X 1 inch. Sterling silver 18 inch box chain.

Please note: This has sold but I can create another similar one as a custom order. It will not be identical as I start from scratch each time.
