My friend calls this a pillow bead. One side is curved and the other side is flat. It is textured differently on each side so can be worn both ways. I used a circular texture on the curved side and fleur de lis pattern on the flat side. The two different textures were pressed into Precious metal silver clay. The curved part was draped and pressed on a plastic form to get the shape. The flat part was cut to the size of the curved part of the bead. The 2 dried halves were joined using syringe silver clay.
After kiln firing I burnished both sides of the bead with 24K Gold foil and painted patina on the flat side in order to achieve my favorite blue, green and purple colors.
For added interest I added beads to the top and bottom on a decorative headpin. The beads at the bottom are carnelian and pearl.
This is a 2 for 1 pendant since the 2 textures on each side are different and it can be worn either side.
