Nasturtium Leaf Earrings With Malachite Stone
Nasturtium Leaf Earrings With Malachite Stone
I picked these leaves from my garden. I love the texture of the leaves and the brightly colored flowers. The young seed pods are spicy and can be added to salads. I pressed the leaf into moist silver clay. After drying and refining, I added the bezel for the stone in the center and the Baile made out of rolled silver clay at the top, for the ear wire.
After kiln firing for 2 hours during which the organic material burned off, I heated the earrings and burnished them with 24K Gold Foil, a process called Keum boo. I then painted patina on and tapped the stone into the bezel.
These earrings are lovely, playful, and remind me of the beautiful flora and fauna we are privileged to grow around us.
Sterling Silver ear wires were added. These can be changed to comfortable Sterling Silver Clip ons for an additional charge.
Dimensions: 1 and 1/4 inch X 1 and 1/4 inch.
