I had etched this pattern onto copper. I decided to use it as a template for making silver clay earrings. I love the way they turned out. They are lovely, dangly and can be worn for a dressy event or for daily wear. They are very pleasing either way.
Etching on copper also starts out with picking your black and white design, printing it onto blue PNP or press and peel paper, burnishing it onto very clean copper, peeling off the blue paper and putting the metal into an acid bath. The exposed metal gets eaten away by the acid. Once you have a deep enough etch the metal is neutralized and cleaned. In the past I have enameled my copper pieces.
After firing my refined silver clay piece in the kiln for 2 hours at 1650 degrees F I burnished portions of it the pattern with 24K Gold Foil, an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo. I painted patina for accent.
Dimensions : Almost 1 and 1/2 inch X 1/4 inch. Sterling silver Leverback wires. These can be switched to comfortable sterling silver clip ons for an additional charge.
