Hummingbirds are such lovely little birds. I love to watch them as they hover over flowers forwards, backwards, sideways and upside down. They need constant feeding because of their high metabolism. They have long slender beaks to reach the nectar which they suck in using a forked tongue covered with hair like fibers. They look like little flying jewels.
I created a background of flowers using a chrysanthemum petal texture on a pentagram shape. I superimposed a stamp of a hummingbird diving into the flower petals. After kiln firing I burnished the birds with 24K gold foil, an ancient technique called KeumBoo. I added patina below the birds for color.
Dimensions: 1"X1". Sterling Silver ear wires. These can be replaced with comfortable sterling silver clip ons for an additional charge.
