Half Ellipse Earrings With Lapis

These earrings are popular because they are slender and petite. The bright blue lapis lazuli stone sets off the shiny silver chrysanthemum petal pattern and the streak of gold and patina. These started out as silver clay which was pressed onto the texture, cut out in an ellipse and then split in half. A bezel was added at the lower end to receive the stone.

The silver clay was dried then refined using a flexible sanding pad and put into a 1650 degree F kiln for 2 hours. What emerged was pure silver which was burnished with 24K Gold foil, an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo. Patina was painted on for more color. The lapis was tapped into the bezel. 

These can be worn as every day earrings or for special occasions.

Dimensions: 1 and 1/4 inch X almost 1/2 inch. Sterling Silver ear wires. The ear wires can be changed to comfortable Sterling Silver Clip ons for an additional charge.
