This is an etched Sterling silver cuff or bracelet. The pattern, from one of my Indian design books, was etched on to sheet silver and then cut with a jewelers saw, filed, smoothed and polished. The cuff was hammered on a bracelet mandrel to give it the desired shape.
Patina was painted on the design, as accent.
Etching is a fun but time consuming process. You start out with sheet silver. You choose your pattern, in this case from my Indian design book, and print it on special paper. You burnish the design on to the heated metal and then peel off the paper to leave behind the pattern. The silver sheet is then floated on an acid bath. The exposed metal gets etched with the selected pattern. The metal is neutralized and then scrubbed with a solvent to remove the blue pattern paper.
Dimensions 6" X almost 1 and 1/2 inches.
Since this is an open cuff it should fit most wrists.
