I have a favorite pair of earrings I wear every day. They are among the first pair I made when I took classes in Precious Metal Clay as it was known at the time. They are very striking and people often ask if I have another pair to sell. Recently I decided to make a pair similar to the ones I wear.
Both are long and dangly but otherwise quite different. One has a bubble pattern with a seahorse at the lower end. The other has a cobblestone texture with a dragonfly at the lower end.
They started out as silver clay using my own earrings as a template. A seahorse stamp was used for one earring and a dragonfly stamp for the other. After drying, refining and smoothing they were kiln fired for 2 hours in a 1650 degree F kiln, What emerged was pure 999 silver. The seahorse and dragonfly were burnished with 24K Gold foil using an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo. They were painted with patina for accent to make them pop! I love them and am sure others will too.
Dimensions : 2 inches by almost 1/2 inch. Sterling silver ear wires. For an additional charge comfortable sterling silver clip ons can be switched over instead.
