Curlicue Edged Cross

This is a very intricately patterned cross. The texture is very fine.

The template was pressed into silver clay, refined and then fired in a 1650F kiln for 2 hours. What came out was pure silver. I burnished the edges of the cross with 24K Gold Foil. This is an ancient Korean technique called Keum boo. It makes the contrast of the silver and gold stunning. I painted some patina onto the cross for further contrast.

Crosses come in many patterns depending on what the artistic and cultural background is. They are works of art as well as devotion.
