Aventurine on the Ocean Waves
Aventurine on the Ocean Waves
I made these in Pat Evans's class at Creator Haven. The lesson was to create a bezel for the chosen stone, close it and fire it after painting silver paste on it. The earrings were created with silver clay rolled out using a template and texture. A hole was punched in the silver clay that was smaller than the stone and bezel. The refined clay earrings with clay seashells I attached using some silver paste onto the clay earrings the and bezel were fired in the kiln. After firing the bezel was attached to the fired piece using silver paste and fired again.
I burnished 24K Gold foil onto the sea shells, a process called Keumboo and painted on patina to give the earrings more of an ocean waves look.
Finally I tapped bezel around the beautiful green aventurine stones.
Quite a process but a lovely finish!
