I gathered these acorn caps and painted the outsides with silver paste. This was done 10 times with complete drying in between. They were put in the kiln and fired at 1640 degrees F for 2 hours. As you can imagine it was labor intensive.
The caps burned away leaving the shell of pure silver. I flattened the tops of the caps and soldered jump rings so I could attach ear wires. The outside was burnished with some 24K Gold foil a process called Keum boo and painted with a little patina.
I decided to leave these caps simple to focus on the texture.
These are sweet, simple and small for people who enjoy wearing petite earrings.
Dimensions : A little over 1/2 inch in length and breadth. Sterling silver ear wires. These can be switched to comfortable sterling silver clip ons for an additional charge.
